![]() ![]() Bennet doesn't respect his wife at all, but cultural values at the time, I guess, didn't have wife respect as a norm, so it probably didn't bother her as much as it would me lol. I kinda feel like the Bennets should have divorced. ![]() Edmund and Mary's marriage would absolutely be this rushed and ill-advised. ![]() I think that because divorce is available people might rush into ill-advised marriages for a variety of reasons, knowing that the mistake could later be rectified. It's not easy or taken lightly by most people, and I'm sure it's saved millions of lives. I personally don't see a lot of compromise being probable.Įdit: just because divorce is easier to obtain these days, I don't think it means people use it as a means to avoid compromise. ![]() Their morals and outlooks on life are so different, and they both have rather strong personalities, especially Mary. Mary would fit in very well in this day and age Edmund, not so much. Mary is basically a heathen and Edmund is extremely devout. It really depends.Įspecially with religious differences it's very hard to compromise. Or the man could just have his way, like the Prices. Instead of compromise, they could just resent each other, like the Crawfords' aunt and uncle. ![]()
